FAQ

Q: What is this Enthusiasts business!? I call shenanigans!
A: We’re cosplayers with a photography problem! The Enthusiasts were created in April 2009 when Nick decided that after 15 years he was no longer happy working in IT and would like to pursue his own business. Nick spent hours online watching low quality videos from conventions and finally decided that there was not a high quality video / photography company that concentrated on capturing the “feel” of the convention with a focus on cosplay. It was also very difficult to get and then FIND a good photograph of your costume. Everyone deserves at least one good photo at a convention and he set out to fix that and attempt to fulfill his dreams of owning his own company while doing photography and video for the best community on Earth.

The Enthusiasts are always changing and adapting to demand and trying their best to provide what the costume community wants!

Q: Who are The Enthusiasts?

Q: What do you do at conventions?
A: We run a low-cost photobooth with option to purchase prints to help us out and keep us attending conventions. We specialize in cosplay posing and photographs that will best capture your costume! Our members know anime, sci-fi, steampunk and comics and are allfans! You will have a great time at our photobooth! We normally have a team roam the hallways doing cosplay photography while getting video of the event as well for posting on YouTube and Facebook. If the convention has a special event we try to participate and capture it for all to experience. We are entertainers as well as photographers and try our best to provide a high point for you and your friends at the con.

Q: Do you do private photoshoots?
A: YES!!! Anyone in our with a private photographer title is able to do private photoshoots on location. This included Amanda (Elemental), Colleen (ByeByeBeautiful), Chris (CosIT), Nick and Mike! We will post on the website, facebook page and twitter when on-line reservations for photoshoots become available at a convention and which photographers will be attending. Be sure to check the site often if you are interested because they fill up FAST!

Q: Do The Enthusiasts do other events?
A: YES! We not only participate in sci-fi, steampunk, comic book, pop culture, and anime conventions, but we also do private parties, raves, fashion shows, weddings, religious events, family photos, pet photos and almost anything else you can think of! Send in an email and we will setup something that works right for you.

Q: Can I get a copy of the video with me in it?
A: Short answer: No. Because we a capturing the video under press authority we cannot sell it to you specifically. But you can get if for free on our Facebook and YouTube accounts! :D

Q: I forgot to order my photo at the con! I’d like to have a full resolution copy/print of it, please!
A: We can do that! :D If you’ll go to the convention’s gallery in our PHOTOS page you can write down the numbers of the photos you’d like to purchase. Then go to the main page of the website and enter them into the online ordering system with the size you want for each. We realize this is a pain in the butt and are working on a new system soon. We have a 100% guarantee with UPS that photos will ARRIVE and be in perfect condition or they will cover full replacement and mailing.

Q: UGH! I hate my photos! Can I get them removed?
A: YES! We take removal requests very seriously. Email us ASAP and tell us the numbers of the photos you would like removed. We will need a link to your Facebook (or other social networking site) to verify that you are the same person in the photos and not a troll.

Q: Why cant I find the photos you took of my son/daughter/friend on the website?!?!
A: It could be a few things, but its most likely because the person that’s in the photos appeared under the age of 12. Due to privacy laws we CANNOT post photos online of anyone under the age of 12. Anyone appearing ages 12 – 16 will be posted with verbal permission from the parent/guardian. Anyone appearing 16 + will get posted on the site. If you have any questions about this policy feel free to email us.

Q: I’m interested in signing a modeling release so my photos can be sold as prints and to magazines.
A: Model Release Contract. Download that and mail it to us.

Q: Can I work for The Enthusiasts?
A: We are always looking for DSLR equipped photographers that have a strong skill set for our guest photographer program. While we do not currently have any paid positions available we will take your watermarked photos and sponsor them on our site which currently generates over 90,000 hits per week. In some cases, we will be able to help by providing press badges for events.

If you’re interested in co-coordinating a time where you might be able to meet up with us and show us your stuff, feel free to drop an email to Jess. (jess@the-enthusiasts.com)

Q: How can I get you to my convention?
A: We LOVE going to conventions and particularly enjoy the smaller ones. Please send one of our booking agents an email and we will send you our template of special offers and services! Email: brandi@the-enthusiasts.com or jess@the-enthusiasts.com. (Our minimum for convention size is 500 people.)

If you’re a fan, request us! Feel free to email us with new conventions that we might not have heard about yet! We are currently working on attending at least 2-3 conventions per month. If your convention has a minimum attendance of 500 people, is at least 2 years old and is located in the mid-west between Ohio and Nebraska please let us know!

Q: Who is your cute purple haired girl mascot?
A: Thats Hari! She was created by our artist Naomi (Pockychopstix). The name Hari comes from when Naomi mis-typed the hair layer in the original photoshop file and we fell in love with calling her Hari. Hari will be making some new appearances soon as she LOVES to cosplay. :)

Any other questions? Feel free to drop an email over to Jess@The-Enthusiasts.com! :)
