Nostalgia, as its name suggests, is a throwback to JRPGs of old. This is an interesting concept, but in today’s age of innovation in RPGs, the game feels extremely archaic and uninspired. The game, developed by Red Entertainment and Matrix Software, is set in an alternate history 19th century Earth during an age of steam, airships, magic, and adventure. The main character of the game is Eddie Brown, the son of a famous adventurer who has gone missing. Eddie takes his father’s airship and leaves on an adventure to find out what happened to his father. Along the way, Eddie meets Pad, a street urchin; Melody, a magician girl from a secluded town of magicians; and Feona, a girl with mysterious powers.

After playing the original Boom Blox for the first time this weekend, and then subsequently getting it dropped off in my living room for the week, I’d say we just committed at least 6 straight hours to the cursing-ensuing Wii game. With Wii-motes firmly attached to our wrists, we screamed and snorted as all the blocks came tumbling down. In the middle of our triumphant fist pumping, we wondered how we could have not known about the 2008 released game earlier? Just because we are a little behind the times doesn’t stop us from having a good party.
But now even more fun can be had as Boom Blox Bash Party has come to us. Again, a little behind are we, as the game was released May 19th 2009. However a recent review by the Game Guys on News10.net gives the new addtion to the series high recomendations. You should read it here.
Also, did we mention now you get to play with pirates? Space battles? Hopefully our luck in keeping our television in one piece pulls through.
